Diaper Cake - My Naptime Project

I have always found diaper cakes to be so unique and practical! What a great way to give some a bunch of diapers and other cool trinkets and useful items they will need for when their baby arrives. If you have researched these at all you know they cost anywhere from $50 to over $100 a piece to make!

So I decided to make one myself for my friend Katie for her upcoming baby shower. Everything on the cake including the diapers was on sale (some even FREE), so I was able to do it for fairly cheap by taking my time to stock up on the items for the cake.

Items used to make diaper cake:
  • approx. 130 size 1 diapers (next time I will use size 2 and maybe only do 3 tiers (It was pretty heavy))
  • bottle of baby shampoo and body wash for center posts of cake (hidden by the diapers)
  • jittery pal monkey for topper (might try a knit hat pulled over the first tier of diapers next time)
  • 2 pairs of baby mittens
  • Animalz lion toy/figurine
  • tube of Destin diaper cream
  • digital picture key chain
  • toy/teething key ring
  • bead teether
  • 2 trial size hand sanitizers
  • 2 link hooks
  • trial size bottle of baby lotion and baby shampoo
  • hairbrush
  • foot shaped cooling gel teether
  • elephant nasal aspirator (otherwise know as a booger sucker!)
  • safari animal ribbon and clear cubes with letters colored in for decoration
Overall it went really well and I enjoyed myself making it and getting creative. I have even more ideas for next time and am looking forward to trying out some different things.
